Morning prayer: Interruptions

Diary - pexels-jess-bailey-designs.jpg

My times are in your hands.   Psalm 31:15

Lord, I had lots of good intentions.

But, shall we say, life got in the way

The engineer called unexpectedly to finish a job he’d started weeks ago.

Then other stuff happened, I was called to do things that were part of other people’s agendas,

Then a phone call, an email to answer, things needed mending.

Things. People. All conspiring to wreck my plans.

What I had intended went out the window.

Lots of little things. Nothing spectacularly awful.

And then I realised we hadn’t spoken yet.

My day had begun without you.

So I’m putting that right now.

Lord, take my hand now.

Lead me on today.

Through the expected and unexpected,

Planned agendas and interruptions,

Knowing that what is truly needed will be accomplished today.

And the rest will happen – or not – in your perfect timing.
