untangling the web

Lord Jesus, you are the bread of life;
help me never to hunger after other foods 
which don’t satisfy
but rather leave a strange and unfulfilled taste in the mouth.

Lord Jesus, you are the light of the world;
may I not hide my little light under a blanket,
or live in the shadows.
May I have the courage to shine your light
into this world’s darkness, and not be ashamed of you.

​

Lord Jesus, you are the gate;
help me not to get side-tracked down other paths,
through other doors, onto other pastures.
Your gate represents the way to
Life with a capital ‘L’.

​

Lord Jesus, you are the vine;
may I never get tempted to source meaning
and purpose through other channels. 
Cause me to bask in the sunshine of your love
every day
and so draw my vitality from you.

​

Lord Jesus, you are the resurrection and the life.
You have conquered the enemy, death,
and now hold the keys to eternal life.
May I never doubt you, nor think I don’t need you,
nor try to go it alone.

​

Lord Jesus, you are everything I need:
my oxygen, my food, my drink,
my shelter, my family, my friend,
my Saviour, my Lord, my Life.
