Evening prayer: Thinking back over my day

If I can, I try and pause each night-time to think back over my day. I’m not very successful at giving much time to this but I do try and bring to God things that have happened during the day, people I’ve met (if only online at the moment), talked to, and other concerns that have arisen. And then I try to leave them with God because he’s master at handling everything.

Thank you for your faithfulness.

I don’t always look to see it, but it’s there,

Holding me, protecting me, watching out for me.

In each conversation, in person or online.

The wave of a friend, the blown kiss, the hearts at the message end.

Your faithfulness in provision of beauty,

painted in evening twilight skies,

before you put your brushes down and begin again elsewhere.

My heartfelt sighs will never do justice to your loyalty

to people like me.

It was another day, Lord.

Great is your faithfulness.

It is wonderful each morning to tell about your love, and at night to announce how faithful you are.
