KNOTS, TWISTS AND FAITH IN GOD
Treasure in clay
“We have this treasure in jars of clay.” 2 Cor 4:7
My jar is rather fragile, Lord.
Worn thin and brittle.
The clay has hardened over the months;
it’s cracked in places,
and chipped too.
It’s not much of a jar to hold your light.
One more stone flung at it,
one of life’s missiles,
and it will disintegrate.
But the treasure of your light within us
still shines.
And, do you know,
I think it shines better
through cracks and gaps
and holes and chipped edges.
Better than through sleek sides
and finely moulded handles.
“That’s to prevent anyone from confusing God’s incomparable power with us.” 2 Cor 4:7 (The Message)
