KNOTS, TWISTS AND FAITH IN GOD
You cooked breakfast
‘Some people built a fire in the middle of the courtyard and were sitting around it. Peter sat there with them, and a servant girl saw him. Then after she had looked at him carefully, she said, “This man was with Jesus!”
‘Peter said, “Woman, I don’t even know that man!”’ (Luke 22: 55 – 57 CEV)
‘When the disciples got out of the boat, they saw some bread and a charcoal fire with fish on it. Jesus told his disciples, “Bring some fish you have just caught.” Simon Peter got back into the boat and dragged the net to shore. In it were one hundred and fifty three large fish, but still the net did not rip.
‘Jesus said, “Come and eat!”’ (John 21: 9 – 12a CEV)
A fire of hot coals – a barbeque we’d call it –
you prepared for your disciples.
Anticipating the need.
Forgiving the former betrayal by Peter over a similar fire.
Forgiving the lack of faith shown in a return to former employment,
and you cooked breakfast for them.
The risen Lord of earth, sea and sky
provides the fish
and then, in servant heart, waits on us.
